Wow, has it really been a whole month since my last post? Where in the hell does time go anyway? It seems like time flies by when you get older. I remember when the summer used to last F-O-R-E-V-E-R.
Anyways, I’m totally stoked about being able to get the tent out again. I love getting all my buds together for a camping sesh in the summer. Now if we could only get this damn weather in Iowa to cooperate with us. It’s May 18th and I swear I didn’t even see 50°F on the thermometer today.
I was doing some spring cleaning and trying to get all my camping supplies together in hope that I might trigger Mother Nature to get her act together. I know it’s only Monday, but after the day that I had at work, some Sangria was definitely in order. Why is it that Mondays are such killers? So I had my bev of choice sitting on an end table while I was digging out my tent and its rain fly and I whacked the damn table with one of the tent poles. Stupid me, but the glass of Sangria went flying all over the carpet. Talk about a state of panic. Pretty sure the neighbor’s kid learned a few four letter words courtesy of yours truly. Whoops!
I had no idea what to do, so I picked up my phone and googled “West Des Moines Carpet Cleaner” and clicked on the first site I saw. Thank God the site was mobile friendly, cuz I most definitely did not have time to search for a phone number. I was able to click on the phone number right from my browser and was instantly connected with Jeff at westdesmoinescarpetcleaning.com. He grabbed my address and dispatched a crew over to my house right away to help me out. I think he noticed the panic in my voice. Suffice it to say, that it was totally killer to have a business operate with a sense of urgency like they did.
It couldn’t have been more than 20 minutes and the carpet tech was at my house and he got to work almost immediately. Talk about service! Pretty sure I would have gladly paid way more than what they charged me to get my carpet clean. I was so impressed with the way everything turned out that I tipped the carpet tech. I’m not even sure if you are supposed to do that or not, but I felt obligated to because that dude worked his ass off getting the sangria out. Guy refused to take my tip, I said I insist, and I told him to grab dinner on me since it was nearly dinner time. He seemed cool with that.
Suffice it to say, I left the sangria on the counter as I got the rest of my camping equipment out. Spilling one time was enough. I’m so glad that you can’t even tell that I had a “little accident.” Now if I could only get Mother Nature to deliver up some good weather as quickly as the carpet guys. Man, I’m getting sick of this rainy, windy, cold crap we’ve got going on. I may have to look into skipping town for good so I can camp year round. Maybe in the future if I get brave…
Now tell me this pic doesn’t just make you want to hop in the car for a road trip:
